WHY IS RELIABLE PIPE THREAD SEALING SO IMPORTANT?

In gas, plumbing, heating and industrial installations, thread sealing is one of the key steps during assembly. The joint must be tight immediately after assembly, while also withstanding working pressure and subsequent adjustment of the pipe or fitting position.

Loctite 55 is a pipe thread sealing cord developed for professional use when assembling metal and plastic threaded joints. The new formulation is now prepared without PFAS ingredients while retaining its well-known sealing performance, easy application and broad range of applications.

Sealing without waiting

With Loctite 55, no curing time is required. Immediately after assembly, the joint is ready for a pressure test or use, which simplifies work for installers in gas, plumbing and heating installations.

Fewer installation issues

The sealing cord does not tear during application like PTFE tape, so work is more controlled. After sealing, the joint remains adjustable, which is important when aligning fittings, valves, elbows and other threaded elements.

Broad certified use

Loctite 55 is certified for use with gas, drinking water, oxygen and hydrogen. The listed certificates include DVGW, WRAS, NSF, BAM and Kiwa Gastec.

Redesigned packaging for faster work

The new packaging of Loctite 55 is designed based on feedback from installers and plumbers. An integrated cap reduces the risk of losing the cap, pre-tensioning of the sealing cord simplifies application, and a transparent window clearly shows the remaining amount of cord in the package.

The packaging is made from 70% recycled plastic. For the design, Henkel has received several awards, including the German Packaging Award, WorldStar Packaging Award and Red Dot Award 2025 for sustainable design.
